The Grand Wailea is by far the best vacation I have ever had. My family and I visited Maui in July, 2011, and I was amazed by the property. It has an elegant open atmosphere in the hotel. The lobby area is open, and the warm island breezes fill the property. Our room overlooked the property with an ocean view. We had amazing sunsets from our balcony every day. I would normally grab a cup of coffee for breakfast at Café Kula. It is like the mini-mart on the resort carrying grocery items as well as having a small grill and a Starbucks. My wife preferred the full buffet breakfast at the Grand Dining Room overlooking the ocean and pool area. It’s a great place to eat breakfast and start your day with a scenic view!
We spent a lot of our time in the pool area. We definitely liked that there are plenty of pools for families in addition to an eighteen and over pool. The family area has a couple waterslides, a water elevator, and a swim-up bar. If you want a chair under an umbrella, you’ll have to arrive at 7AM to get your spot. They fill up quickly, but you can rent a cabana if you wish to spend the money. The pool area is overwhelming, and it includes two the Bistro Molokini and Volcano restaurants. Both serve a variety of food and drinks, and I think I enjoyed everything I ate. The resort has its own beach where you can lay under an umbrella. I would also recommend the free scuba class for your kids. If you choose to scuba in the ocean, there is a charge, but my step-daughter had a blast.
Humuhumunukunukuapua’a is the signature restaurant on the property. It is overlooking the scenic ocean sunsets, and the entire restaurant is built over a lagoon with all types of marine life. It was one of the highlights of our stay.
Overall, this is the best resort that I have ever stayed at. The Grand Wailea staff spares nothing to make your stay a life-long memory.
